How can i find out if i have vauable antiques liying around my home

leslie p,

Old Wood Market specializes in antique furniture & has been selling antiques in the family since 1984.

Briefly look at what is in the house. Rule out anything plastic or made of some type of plastic, a laminate or synthetic material. Find one thing in the house that seems to have an old luster on it, the paint or its' wood finish. What makes that antique look older that other things is simply age, & sometimes it will get a glaze on it or it will fade a bit too. If u see a 33 LP record lying around the house, notice it is age & look up the artist or copyright date to see what x number of years does to a new LP. Things age with different changes in appearance from furniture to china to clothes & jewerly. Collectibles like glass age too, but some glass doesnt lose it is luster unless it is scratched.

Look for some brand names imprinted on the pieces & start doing eBay searches on their characteristics. Simply stated, being familiar with antiques can encompass everything that was made 50+ years ago.

good luck - oldwoodmarket
